Over 15 people came out on a humid and overcast Saturday morning this past weekend to help break ground on what will become a regular occurrence in this small slice of the Cliff.
The N. Polk St Beautification Project got underway with plenty of sweat and muscle. Several wheel barrels full of sod was removed at the 620 Turner Ave triangle, the soil was tilled with heavy duty equipment rented at Home Depot, and new, rich soil amendments were worked in to create new beds for plants and trees. The design was voted on and approved by the neighbors of Kings Highway and Turner Winston Block.
Next weekend, we’ll be out there again on Saturday, May 7th at 9 am to finish the first of several phases of the project. Check out a picture of an old 2 x 10 found stuck half way into the ground that was removed from the site. It will be reincorporated into the site somehow in the near future. See photos below:
